The place value chart is made using sports card protectors (which I also use in my coupon binder). This is a little more time-intensive page, so it doesn’t always get finished. It includes a place to write the date, write the expanded notation for today’s number (which is just whatever number we’ve written on our 100’s chart), write what comes before and after, draw a domino from the game box and turn it into a math fact, write the time I show them on a clock, and lay out coins to make the day’s number. My five-year-old and eight-year-old work on this one. This math & calendar combo sheet is slipped into a plastic page protector, so it can be reused over and over. I usually draw the number in outline form and let my youngest daughter trace it. Next, we add another day to our 100 Days of School chart. Also, I like to make up a silly story with our address in it ….like “Once upon a time, there was a little girl who lived at _(insert address here). We just sing the number over and over to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. We also review our phone number and address. We sing The Months of the Year song and The Days of the Week Song. The months of the year and days of the week come next. My middle and oldest are doing three and four-color patterns…although one of them has already lost some of the original crayons she started out with! My youngest is doing a two-color pattern. Here’s a quick tour through our calendar binders at this point:įirst, the girls fill in the day on the calendar. If they’ve mastered what I think they need, then we’ll move on and use the binders for something else! We’ll probably just do this for a while and reevaluate in a few months. Now this is a little more school-ish than we normally do, but I noticed there were a few things my girls needed to work on concerning the months, dates, etc. I just don’t really want to give up the wall space to put up a calendar area! I decided this would work perfectly for a morning calendar time. I loved the idea, because I don’t have a calendar area set-up in our schoolroom. This summer, I ran across this post about making a calendar notebook over at Mama Jenn’s and this post from Mrs. You can find the directions for using them in the post below! You can also purchase one for a classroom/co-op/church/daycare here(this gives you the ability to make multiple copies legally). **Update: Several years ago I shared these free calendar binder printables, and I have had tons of requests to update them for this year!įind the latest 2022-2023 FREE Calendar Binders here (in color or B&W).
